Therapeutic Massage Certification Program

The program is designed to provide entry level massage therapy students with a solid knowledge base and the physical skills necessary become a professional massage therapist. Our program meets the Montana State Board of Massage Therapists educational requirement of 500 hours, and requires 6 months to complete. Core study topics are structured in a sequential, integrated manner to enhance the student’s learning experience.
The subject matter is divided into separate courses:
- Massage Theory and Clinical Practice;
- Anatomy and Physiology; Pathology;
- Business and Ethics; and Allied Modalities.
The detailed syllabus outlining daily topics, assessments and assignments will be distributed during orientation. Actual class sessions tend to integrate material and the courses intertwine. For example, an anatomy lesson on the skeletal system may involve palpation, or lead into a pathology discussion on osteoporosis and special considerations for Geriatric Massage.
The program covers the academic subjects required for qualification to take the national exam (MBlex). You will learn self-care tools for building strength, stress management and increased energy which will help you maintain a productive career in Massage Therapy. The hands-on sessions allow you to explore and experience a number of techniques. Practice sessions with fellow students and the public develop communication and client retention skills. You will develop the professional skills to effectively integrate massage techniques into a customized treatment session. Finally, we will provide career guidance by comparing employment opportunities and business considerations. Overall, the courses are designed to enhance your personal and professional development with the tools you’ll need as a professional massage therapist.
